Explora at the Lachine Canal is a companion which reveals the rich industrial heritage of the canal, the cradle of industrialization in Canada. Six GPS-based tours are designed to help you discover the secrets and stories of the Lachine Canal, nearby buildings, and the people who lived this history firsthand.

Explora at the Lachine Canal app includes stories, archived photos, 2D and 3D animations providing technical information or showing the evolution of the landscape, detailed maps and more. As visitors stroll or boat along the canal, they will enjoy this entertaining and richly informative experience.

Located in Montreal, the Lachine Canal runs 14.5 kilometers from the Old Port to Lake Saint-Louis. Its history stretches over more than 150 years. It comes within the scope of the interdependence between shipping, industrialization and urbanization, which marked Montréal’s development.

1.Around the Atwater Market : this tour takes the visitor around the Atwater Market.
2.The Old Canal and the Old Lachine: this loop tour takes the visitor along the bank of the Old Canal and Lake St. Louis.
3.Sailing on the canal (Old Port to Lachine) : explores the canal that was the ancestor of the saint Lawrence Seaway and the cradle of Canadian industry.
4.Around the Saint-Gabriel Lock : brings the visitor back in time by exploring a historic sector of the canal.
5.Around the Peel Basin: this loop takes the visitor on a discovery tour of the entrance to the canal and the Peel Basin.
6.Sailing on the canal (Lachine to Old Port): explores the canal that was the ancestor of the saint Lawrence Seaway and the cradle of Canadian industry.
